My interview with President Leppard this past week was really good. Haha! For once I didn’t have an issue to discuss with him, so that made it even better!
Okay, so Sister Price is just the coolest person ever!!!! She’s from West Valley Salt Lake. Her parents divorced about four years ago, and she has a little brother, but he died when he was five and she was ten. But her testimony is so strong because of it, and she does a lot of family history.
I’ve loved and been united with all my previous five companions, but Sister Price and I are probably more in sync than I’ve been with any of them. The Spirit speaks to us at the same time, and tells us the same things. It’s so cool! We get the same promptings at the same time!
So a couple weeks ago we were thinking about one of our investigators and thinking what we could do to help her, but we couldn’t wrap our minds around anything. While we were sitting there a brief thought passed through my mind that we should fast to find out what, but I didn’t say anything. But not ten seconds later Sister Price said, “Don’t know why. But I just got the thought that we could fast for her.”
I just kinda flipped out a little bit and went, “I thought that too!!!!” So the next evening we began our fast and fasted through church until our DA. At the end of it we still weren’t sure what to do and I kinda thought, maybe we need to fast again. Did I not have enough faith? So we just kept studying for her believing that God would give us the answer.
Now let me tell you about Thursday. It was probably the most Spirit-led day I have experienced on my mission thus far. We had our interviews on Wednesday and then from there went on exchanges. On Thursday afternoon we came back together, and we didn’t know what we should do with the rest of our day, because there were so many things for us to do. So we prayed and we felt like we should go to this one area, so we headed there on a bus, and on the way there we were just taking about our interviews and stuff. President had asked both of us what we do to help our investigators recognise the Spirit, and then done a role play with us.
So we were taking about that, and then discussing our investigators that we had fasted for earlier. We got off the bus and we’re walking to the house of a recent convert when all the sudden it was like the Spirit smacked us both in the faces and we both SHOUTED, “We have to help her recognise the Spirit!!!!” The answer was clear as day and we literally jumped up and down and giggled and screamed. God gave us the answer through President and we didn’t even realise it!
The recent convert wasn’t there, so we stood there trying to decide what to do and we both got a promoting to walk down the road. So we were waking and we passed this road and just stopped. Nothing to do with the sunlight in the late afternoon, that road was LIT UP. “We need to tract this road.” I said, and Sister Price went, “I just thought exactly the same thing!” We just felt like there was someone on that road we needed to find. We knocked all the doors and got only one potential, a woman from the Philippines named Luz. Her name means light.
On the way back to the bus stop we passed a house and both of us stopped dead in our tracks, and I literally couldn’t move my feet to take another step. I looked at the house, Sister Price looked at the house, and we both turned into the gate and ended up talking to a nice man about family history for about 20 minutes and giving him the information for the Harborne family history centre. Then he told us that he thought the guy in the house across the street might be interested to talk to us.
We crossed the street and tried to find our way into the front of this house, but it was really weird and kinda overgrown. It led us into this weird alley that came out into this little courtyard of the backs of a couple of houses. Nothing was there, and it felt kind of eerie, so we turned around and started going back. I heard a door squeak slowly on its hinges and then all the sudden I got this really dense bad feeling, and it was so intense and so strong I couldn’t walk anymore, and I just knew something really bad had happened there not too long before. I looked back at Sister Price and said, “Did you just get a really bad feeling?” Her eyes were wide and she nodded her head. Then we broke into a run back up that path as fast as we could, and once we got to the street we kept right on running until we got to the bus stop, and man I can’t believe how fast my feet flew. The Spirit was just pushing us!
“Okay, that was really scary…” she said. “Something bad happened there recently.” We just sat there panting while we waited for a bus. Then later that night we were walking down this street and it was dark, and we turned into this one yard and the Spirit said, “Turn around and run.” We didn’t know what it was because we didn’t waste any time obeying Him. But man, the Spirit directed us that whole day. He told us where we needed to go, and where we needed to run away from. I honestly feel like without his protection we’d be in a not very good place right now.
I’m so grateful for Sister Price and the way we can be in a trio with the Holy Ghost. It works so much better than a duo companionship. But we laboured in the Spirit so much that day that when we got home that evening I was EXHAUSTED!!! Literally I could barely put my night clothes on before dropping to me knees to say my prayers. I was too tired to eat even! Which for me is a really serious and unusual thing. I just rolled into bed after that and fell asleep for the next ten hours.
But opposition is a sign that we are doing something right I suppose, so I couldn’t help but be a little bit satisfied. I think we succeeded in offending Satan more than just a little bit. I could kinda feel his anger and it made me so pleased.
Ever since we got here we’ve felt like there is something really special for us to do, and we’ve been praying to know what that is. Then Bishop told us he thought we should go out and try Kinver, a village west of Stourbridge, so we took it as the Lord speaking through him and went that way. The minute we got there we felt something special. It’s just a tiny village, but it’s so nice, and so clean, and we can feel someone there begging God for the truth. We’ve felt that God wants us to know the village left and right and up and down, so we’ve made it a goal to tract all of it while we’re together.
Last night we were discussing it and we both felt the need to work there a couple of days each week. We also both felt that there was a specific road Heavenly Father needed us to go to to start with, so we prayed, looked at the map, and prayed again, and boy, did Heavenly Father send down revelation after revelation, a bit of it a at a time. Once again we both received the same thoughts!
So we had all these bits and pieces of His revelation, but we didn’t know how it all fit together. When we were getting ready to pray the first time it was my turn to pray, but I just kept giggling instead of starting the prayer. Now, you know me when I get excited, I giggle. Sister Price asked me what was the matter and I had to tell her that I was giggling because I was so excited to find out what God had in store for us, because I just KNEW He would tell us. So after I got my giggling under control we prayed.
After we looked at the map and prayed again, we both sat there and prayed for about 30 minutes and tried to figure out where He wanted us to go. From it we both got the answer that the answer would come soon, but not yet. He told us that our faith was sufficient enough for Him to give it to us right then, but He had a plan to tell us at a different time and in a different way.
We know it’s a special place and that God has work for us to do there, because Satan is sure trying to stop us in various different ways. We had a woman tear into us at the door there and tell us to go away and never come back to the area again. When we told her we were sorry we’d offended her, but we were going to keep knocking on doors she asked who gave us authority to do it, and we told her our church, the government, and um…Jesus Christ, actually. She didn’t think that was very funny, but we tried to show her our preaching license anyway and she slammed the door.
I love you guys!!!! Thanks for everything!!! 😍❤️❣️😘
Here’s a time lapse of our coach ride to Harborne.
