What a week! I’m exhausted! It was probably the toughest week of my mission, but it was so great and absolutely FULL of miracles. It started out with me being so grateful for Chinese Challenge Week in the EBM, and I was using it simply as a way to keep myself from slowing down to a death crawl the last week of the transfer. It was only for university areas in the mission, but the catch was, we ended up playing with the big boys. What I didn’t know was that out of the ten teams participating, we were the ONLY team of sisters. Once the APs figured that out a couple of days in all the sudden they wanted us to win really really bad. It was so much pressure! But it made me work so hard! We pretty much killed ourselves everyday trying to complete the daily four challenges, including one from President each day. Those were the hardest. We ended up dropping 800 leaflets, and knocking 800 doors this week, just as one team, and spent the rest of the week walking over the university campus talking to the Chinese students. I love the Chinese people, they are so sweet and they need the gospel so much! We still don’t know who won yet. We are tied for first place with the Harborne elders so we are doing a tie-breaker tonight. We are going to be dong tie breakers in a few hours I think, so that’ll be exciting! I hope we win, just for our own sakes, otherwise we killed ourselves for…..well, not for nothing, but we killed ourselves!
This was a challenge one day this week. We had to have a stand and give out material, but we didn’t have a table to set up in city Centre so we just had Elder Yim carry a board haha. We just walked around the uni campus and Yim was normally carrying the board flipped up the other way without anything on it, but we wanted to follow the rules, so when we saw a Chinese person coming we’d say, “Yim, the board!” And he’d flip it down and Sister Siri would slap a Book down on it and we had a stand. Score! P.s. I look so tired in this picture…

In other news, I finally breached the Birmingham boundary line! Yay! My whole mission I’ve been on the west side of the mission, never past Birmingham into the east, but here I go from one side of the mission to the opposite end! I’m finishing in Stanford with Sister Hall, from New Zealand (yes, I thought of Darren and Grandpa Don serving their missions there:) Her goes six amazing weeks in a new and final area! I’m excited to see what it will be like! Yep, I’m taking a train to Lincoln, all the way to the other coast! It’ll be good, but six weeks in another place, knowing it’s ONLY six weeks, is gonna be weird. I’m excited to go though. It’s a car area so it wasn’t a waste after all getting my UK license. 😊 Stamford is really big.
It’s really dark and windy right now because we’re getting the tail end of a huge storm from a hurricane. It’s super weird. We made bacon avocado burgers today, and Oreo milkshakes. So, dang, good. The reason half of us are laughing is because Elder Varner’s bun fell off his burger onto my plate and knocked mine off and they both fell onto Sister Siri’s head.
Elder Ballard did an area broadcast Sunday evening for the Europe area. It was amazing. I know without a doubt he is an Apostle of the Lord, and that he exercises the power of the priesthood to hasten the work of the Lord. In the broadcast the Spirit was so strong. He told of an experience he had in Ethiopia where there was only one member of the church. The people were suffering from a severe drought, and after they held a three-man sacrament meeting with this member, they were praying, and he felt impressed to bless the land. So by the authority of the priesthood, he called down the rains upon the earth. That was at 1:30 in the afternoon. At 3:30 the same day the thunder clapped and it began to POUR. It rained every single day that they remained in Ethiopia and saved the people from the drought.
Right at the end of the broadcast, he blessed the land to produce miracles, and the people to believe in miracles. Then 45 minutes later, a miracle happened. Literally a miracle from God, as if He just sent down a lightning bolt of His power and it landed in the middle of eight missionaries remaining at the stake centre. We were just getting ready to lock up when a young girl in her twenties walked in. Ya know how she got there? “My sat nav (satellite navigation) just led me here! It said, ‘You have arrived.’ God must have wanted me here for some reason. To meet all of you! You’re all so lovely! I’m going to come back because I feel so good!”
I think we were all sort of dumb-struck at the experience. She just walked in! And her face was glowing — GLOWING — with the Spirit. None of us really knew what to say, we just kind of looked at each other because we couldn’t believe it. And the Spirit was SO STRONG the whole time she was there. All we could do was stare because we felt absolutely assured that it was a miracle wrought purely by the power of God; not because of anything we’d done, not because we deserved it, not because we were worthy of it. Purely because God wanted us to know that Elder Ballard’s blessing was no joke. He literally called down the powers of Heaven, and the powers of Heaven came down. Immediately. My testimony received an extra large, extra powerful dosage from that experience.
I know with absolute certainty, without a single doubt, that our leaders are called of God, and that they hold and exercise a portion of His power. I have seen the power of God work so many miracles right before my very eyes, and I know that it is real now more than I ever have before.
God is so REAL. I know we can’t see Him, and sometime feeling Him can mistakingly get kind of old. Sometimes we might feel it so often through prayer and the Holy Ghost that we become so used to it, we might begin to become numb. But I know that God is REAL. He is a man, He LIVES, He watches over us, and He is VERY involved in our lives. The forces of Heaven and Earth are controlled and supervised by Him. He is real and He is up there; I know because I saw the Heavens open and His power come out of it down to the earth. How I love my Heavenly Father. I want everyone to know of our God.
I love you all!
